Semi-camping at Malaekahana

This last weekend, C and I went camping at Malaekahana as a bit of a celebration of our anniversary and my birthday. This was one of the first times the two of us went camping all by ourselves, so we kind of cheated and stayed in a yurt (that round dome looking thing in the picture below). We also had a Foodland nearby and an intimate knowledge of the area since it's near Laie, so I wouldn't say that we were roughing it too much. The pictures are deceiving, the yurt was pretty ghetto, we were thinking that a tent would have been cleaner.

The first night there was nice and peaceful. There weren't that many people, we kind of had the place to ourselves. We wanted to pretend like we were really camping, so for dinner we made cup-o-noodles. We boiled our own water over the fire that C built! He forgot how much fun it is to play with fire, my lil' pyro.

This was our alarm clock in the morning, at about 6:15am.

We spent the morning at Gas Chambers, while C surfed and I walked on the beach and played in the water. The weather was perfect. C was blessed with an off-season north swell. We went back to camp after lunch and took an afternoon nap in the shade on the sand. We loved not having to be anywhere, it was so nice to relax.

Night two, we made the classic tin foil dinner. It turned out perfect for our first time. Following dinner, we roasted some smores for 3-hours straight. Christian was able to eat 8 smores, I downed 4!

Day 3, we decided to head back to Gas Chambers for round 2. The swell filled in, only 2 people were out, Christian was thrilled. (the picture below was in between sets)

So I happened to catch this wave on video, turns out C injured himself right before he took this wave in. You can tell he was in pain as he rode in. The gash on his foot was pretty deep and it wouldn't stop bleeding. Poor guy. He was only out for 15 minutes and we had to call it a day.

Our day wasn't completely ruined, we headed into Haleiwa to shop at Surf-n-Sea and ate lunch at Wailua Bakery. Best food on the north shore.

Even though it was only a couple of days, we both felt like we have been gone a long time. It was so great to enjoy being outside and being together. Peace.

Happy Anniversary to us!

Today is our wedding anniversary. We've been married 6 years! I definitely got more than I asked for when I married Christian. He's a little too good to be true. Just a few great things about C; this guy is a clean freak. He loves a tidy house, from corner to corner. I'm walking through the house with a cookie, dropping crumbs, and he's behind me vacuuming up my trail of crumbs. It works out great. :) He also loves clothes and loves to shop. (yes he's straight). He is very hands on when I shop in the girl section of the store, weird, but I always follow him to the good finds. Also, I found someone who loves the beach as much as me, probably even more. C's pretty cool and I love being married to him. Can't get enough of him.

Dating 6 years ago. We were babies in these pictures and I had BRACES! With bright pink rubber bands. Amazing. I think that was my biggest attraction. I smiled with my mouth full of metal and that's when he knew I was the one.

Maunawili Falls

Last weekend we hiked up to Maunawili Falls with some friends. Beautiful hike, deep in the jungles. I only had 2 or 3 mosquito bites by the end of the hike. Yeah! Christian was brave and jumped off the falls several times. See his videos below.

Christian was sad with the commentary for this video. I'm sorry C, you looked cool.

Exploring Mokule'ia

Christian and I wanted to find a new beach so we checked out a beach in Mokule'ia. This is almost the farthest possible beach from where we live. We found an empty beach with beautiful water. Christian had fun bodysurfing while I relaxed. Afterwards we drove through Haleiwa to eat at our favorite sandwich place and have a smoothie and cookie, our North Shore ritual.

Christian has so much fun playing in the water, he could have stayed in there all day.

This is a close up shot of Christian's face from the picture on the left. It amazes me how calm he is while he bodysurfs. He is one with the ocean. :)
